The summer is over and everybody is back to work! The final quarter of the year is always a busy one for training and development. We have never figured out exactly why this is, but it has been for as long as we can remember. If anyone has the definitive answer can you please e-mail us?
So what has been happening in the world of hr TEAM UK since our last update and newsletter?
We have been involved in a lot of development work on new assignments, for some of which, initial delivery will take place this year. So life is pretty hectic.
Below are some examples of new projects we are working on:
- Training people in chairing meetings for a major UK based charity - given the nature of charities and how they work, involving many committees, this is a key skill for their organisation
- Managing performance review appraisal meetings for managers in a German based multi-national cash and carry/retailing business - there are a number of dimensions to this assignment. Performance reviews are conducted in English, and none of the managers or people being reviewed have English as their first language. Also, for example a German manager could be reviewing a member of staff from their Spanish or [even!] Chinese operation. So, an exciting and challenging project involving process, language and culture.
- Structured written communication skills in an International law firm - we all know that lawyers are highly versed in writing and reading documents, so again an interesting project.
- Supplier management programmes - for a financial services company and for a multi-national manufacturing company.
This is also the time of year when companies start considering their training and development plans for the next year. So, we would like to hear from you. If you have identified areas where you believe that there may be a fit with our expertise and experience then an initial meeting may be relevant. Following such a meeting we can respond with a discussion paper/proposal.
